Painswick is known as the Queen of the Cotswolds. It’s a personal favourite of mine and although we can’t access the whole village, I still feel like you can get a good flavour of this unusual village. Did you know there are 99 yew trees but there is a myth that the 100th yew tree won’t grow! There is a clipping ceremony that keeps these trees looking like they do.

The houses are made of traditional Cotswold stone and is et deep into the Gloucestershire countryside. There are cafes, a corner shop, arts centre, a beautiful church and you may sometimes here the church bells ringing.

However as lovely as this village its impossible to get round it all as it is very steep. I recommend sticking the the centre of the village. Especially around the church and the arts centre.
